collect.apply—the collection & application of ideas.

collect.apply is a design company based in Kyoto, Japan led by James Gibson & Hal Udell. With over 20 years experience working in the design industry, we view design in its broadest sense and apply design thinking to a multitude of diverse projects, always keen to take on new challenges. We balance our time working with a wide range of clients, self-initiated projects and teaching design.

Our design team pride themselves on their sensitivity—sensitivity to clients’ needs, to materials, processes, and especially language, enjoying working on multilingual / multicultural projects. Currently comprising of Japanese, French and English members, all with a strong creative eye and passion for design.

コレクト アプライは京都を拠点としたデザインカンパニーです。
 デザイン業界で20年以上の経験を持つメンバーのジェームズ・ギブソンとハル・ユデルは、デザインという概念を幅広くとらえた上で、デザイン的思考を応用した様々なプロジェクトを行っています。私たちは、常に新たな試みを追求しながら、多様な分野のクライアントとの仕事や自主プロジェクト、デザイン教育などに取り組んでいます。

私たちは、クライアントのニーズに、またデザインの素材や制作過程にこだわったきめ細かな仕事を行っています。なかでも、言葉に対する関心は強く、様々な言語や文化にまたがる仕事を得意としています。現在、コレクト アプライのメンバーには、日本人、フランス人、イギリス人がおり、強い独創性とデザインへの情熱を持った人物が集まっています。

「コレクション」デザインのインスピレーションとなる写真を収集し、紹介します。これらの写真は、日常の中、ふとした瞬間に、様々な場所で撮影されたものです。
